- This can also hit your beloved open source software. Remember, Microsoft now owns GitHub, and this means that if one of their useless lawyers decides to pull an Adobe, it means that I'll be out of a job, forever. Wait, what? Do you work at/with GitHub? Or are you just opposed to proxies/VPNs for the same reasons as you don't like Bitcoin? There was a certain photograph about which you had a hallucination. You believed that you had actually held it in your hands. It was a photograph something like this. |

Posted by sureanem It means that if a certain dependency I use for whatever project I work on is hosted at GitHub, it means that when MS plays the lazy "shoot first, ask never" game, I can't download it anymore unless someone mirrors it outside 'murica. And if the EU decides to do the same, that means I'll be forced to source my libs from China/Russia, where the FOSS movement is either shitty, non-existent, or unlikely to work in the stuff I need to use?! NO THANKS. And as you've guessed, I won't be using proxies/VPNs anytime soon. Sorry buddy, I need not to explain my reasons to people like you as you will turn them into another 3-page shitpost craze, so let's leave it as is. And once again, VPNs and proxies don't work if you can't get online in first place, which is my biggest problem right NOW. https://simpleflying.com/emirates-criticizes-boeing-airbus/ The Emirates CEO reminds that airplanes are not cellphones and therefore you should be receiving nearly flawless products right from delivery date - you're not expected to buy a new iJet A7 every year at $LOADSOMONEY because neither airframe nor engine OEMs can't properly debug their shit nowadays :/ Licensed Pirate® since 2006, 100% Buttcoin™-free, enemy of All Things JavaScript™ |

Also: software is NOT where you come to talk about politics. Code is code, and it's already icky as-is. Leave the crap outside, where it belongs. > The problem is, if we don’t deal with politics, politics will deal with us. And this is why I don't talk that much anymore, be it online or IRL. Posted by tomman My opinion: I support naming a software release after a political issue (notepad++). I find editing a program to print an unremovable political message after every execution to be a nuisance which I will avoid at any cost (bfg Git repo cleaner, the most recent 4 forks all remove the message, I use a fork now). |

https://it.slashdot.org/story/19/11/08/189243/dns-over-https-will-eventually-roll-out-in-all-major-browsers-despite-isp-opposition Web browsers to the world: You're going to get D'OH!, like it or not - it's not an option! ISPs: Mozilla, you're EVIL! (no mention about Google) Looks like the whole D'OH! debacle turned out to be a very divisive topic among nerds: on one camp we got the sysadmins at home that suddenly got their adblocking solutions disrupted, but on the other side we get the millenial new-age nerds that consider that everybody using a computer is a moron and should be protected for their own safety. As for myself, D'OH!-enabled products are being neutered as they come. use-application-dns.net is already NXDOMAIN'd at my BIND setup, but I'm pretty much sure Google and Mozilla are going to ignore that sooner than later because I'm a moron, according to them. Sonic the Hedgehog THE MOVIE, take 2! There is still hope... just get rid of that "Robotnik" dude and BRING A FATSO that can portray the one and only Dr. Ivo Robotnik! Seriously, Jim Carey is still a shit choice for that role. But at least the shareholders panicked hard enough to force Sega and Paramount to listen and actually make a movie about Sonic the Hedgehog, not about a bad cosplay using licensed shoes. Can't wait for the videogame about the movie about the videogame! UPDATE: LA Spanish version. Can't say I like the dub that much, and this comes from a dude that absolutely hates reading subtitles. Change that Sonic VA and we can be on something... Licensed Pirate® since 2006, 100% Buttcoin™-free, enemy of All Things JavaScript™ |
