Howdy folks.
So i just had major leg surgery and pulled out my laptop running ubuntu 18.04 linux to keep me company.
I played with all emulators including retroarch and holy smokes they are just unstable and unrefined.

Higan is great and i like it as much as ZSNES and BSNES on Windows. I am running version 1.06.

The one funky thing it does is that the screen does not stay centered within the black box when you flip between full screen mode, maximized window, etc.
It seems to forget to center itself at times and defaults to an x/y of 0,0.

My C/C++ fu is not strong enough to fix this, but it seems like a simple fix. It seems to be a problem in all the graphics drivers.

I used to write frontends for super nintendo and neo geo emulators back in the mid to late 90's. The interface for NeoRage was based on my front end and SNeeSE ripped off some of my art from my homepage. But i never got any positive feedback until i said i was done writing frontends.

It is pretty hard to find out what would be popular or useful or who appreciates your work. The more people get overloaded and distracted on the net due to social media and such, the less feedback you get. Nowadays there is a lack of contact information on a lot of pages and you can't send someone a love note.

I really think that git hub / git lab should have some kind of way to shout encouragement and thanks at programmers rather than just starring things or submitting issues. Cuz it's nice to get some love or at least feedback.

I think it's really sad how things turned out for nintendo. Once they decided to leap out of the mainstream console race and focus on cheap stuff for kids, it's just been headache after headache for them, piracy wise.

Seems like they spend more money on lawyers than clever programming and hardware design.

Turning off "Adaptive sizing" should fix the problem, or at least help, but if you want to keep it on, just manually resizing the window a pixel or two is enough to set it right. I don't think this can easily be fixed, though - the price of having a nice GUI on both Linux and Windows for a one-man emulator is that both platforms are a bit quirky.

Thanks a bunch! that helped a lot. The emulation frame is centered in enough conditions now.

Yeah, i understand that getting something to compile AND work on windows and linux is difficult in itself ( especially the linux part ). If byuu is reading - thanks so much for making Higan work so well on linux.

Higan uses a high accuracy method of emulation for SNES that is very CPU intensive.
Your CPU is probably not up to the task, being an AMD and all ( high core count, but weak cores; and the double whammy is that higan/bsnes only uses one core ).

I'd say use another SNES emulator on that machine.

I am a web developer and the death of internet explorer would have been welcomed by me 15 years ago. I just wonder why it took so long.. Microsoft never allocated enough resources to IE to make it anything other than a burden holding back the web as a whole.

The sad thing is that firefox is kind of a piece of shit these days. I'd like to use it for all my browsing needs, but it loves locking up cores a bit too much, so i use it to a limited capacity.

I use the brave browser rather than straight google chrome because i figure less of my data will be leaked back to google..

I think google's recent move of breaking ad blockers will be great for browser diversity though.. unless firefox does something really retarded and follows their lead.
