Hopefully someone will stop with the rampant bikeshedding spread around the entire Linux ecosystem. But nope, that's too communist, the sacred right to have 15 broken options for everything must be upheld!

A bit late to the party, but I've now seen the 4th and last Evangelion Rebuild movie (been a bit busy following VTubers instead). Can finally remove that one from my bucket list.

<spoilers>

Regarding the presentation, there were a few really cheap-looking CGI shots towards the end, really would've liked a different aesthetic; at times it also looked like a game played on an old graphics card due to the ~24 Hz framerate. The sense of scale also got lost for a few moments. As for the content, it was mostly fine. Didn't really like that Asuka was retconned into being one of many clones and that she doesn't end up with Shinji, but that's just my preference I guess.

Watched Gunbuster and Diebuster over the last few days. Very reminiscent of FLCL (same director, afaik), sexy and/or silly at times, and apparently very similar to TTGL (of which I only saw a few episodes many years ago). In the end it was enjoyable enough, even though it had some low points

Zetsuen no Tempest

Amazing OST, I used to listen to it quite often.

I thought that episodes 20+21 (Hakaze going back) was the climax of the story, because Aika is just that awesome. All the episodes after that fell a bit flat because of that, imo.

Never seen Diebuster.

Just like Gunbuster it's fine if you want epic action scenes, especially towards the end. If you like FLCL you'll enjoy the rest too.

The Horizon: Zero Dawn devs removed the mandatory shader compilation that was necessary after installing a new graphics driver version, and the newest NVIDIA driver added DLSS support (which, as a side effect, removes the previous excessive grass shimmering). I took that as inspiration to start a new Ultra Hard playthrough.

How much money is reasonable for a good GPU?

Unfortunately capitalism doesn't care about "reasonable" or MSRP, it cares about supply and demand. If you just need something to connect your monitors to, get a mainboard with integrated graphics or a ASUS GT710 / GT730. Anything for gaming will come with a "luxury" tax. Over here, RTX 2060 starts at 538€ (460€ on ebay), RTX 3060 at 695€ (630€ on ebay). And those are the "cheap" ones that might have loud fans etc.

Speaking of DLSS, the new NVIDIA driver has a new DLS option ("DLDSR") that can be used with DLSS.

not keen on Nvidia given that recent reveals show that they actively sabotaged Linux graphics development for years

Anything more recent than what we already knew? And it's not like AMD wouldn't shy away from using their position either if they were on top.
