I hope you mean picking up keys to be used in locks, not picking up the locks themselves - that would make authoring puzzles quite difficult. :P

(I think a version of Zork had a bug where you could take compass directions and put them in your inventory - in order to allow the player to GO NORTH there had to be a thing called "NORTH" in each room, and if it didn't have the "immovable object" flag set you could take it with you and cause havoc.)

That's hilarious.

If people have experience emulating system complexity at the level of Megadrive and have advice about this design and way to synchronize the device I'm very interested.

You could also try posting a thread on /r/EmuDev/.

Depends on the hardware, the register, and the timing. For example on the SNES writing to VRAM during active display has no effect on the VRAM content, whereas writes to the brightness register do take effect immediately on most SNES revisions.

If you're saying that people are unable to tell right from wrong and that some sort of action against these lies is thus required for a "functioning democracy," then what exactly is the point of voting?

As with many other concepts (unions, feminism, goto-considered-harmful, ...) it's more helpful to look at what they're trying to prevent. Voting is supposed to prevent a ruler from having absolute powers. It's just a fail-safe device, not a silver bullet or guiding principle.

The L3 cache increase (8 MB to 32 MB) is probably even more important than the instruction sets, especially with AMD. Just make sure you get good RAM for best results - 3600 or even 3733 MHz.

Knowing my luck, I’d end up with one that ran constantly with a high pitch.

You might just be able replace it with a passive cooler :)

EDIT: The Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme and the ASRock X570 Aqua (90-MXBAZ0-A0UAYZ) don't have chipset fans. They're "a bit" more pricy though...
